The babies were at the crib, while I was strapped with an infant on my back. Ha! It was all falling into place, but we were nowhere near done. To furnish the home would be an enormous undertaking with regards to time and money. I would also have to do my favourite shopping. In order to stay the cost within my means I took my sons along to search for hidden treasures at estate sales. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales buying old and new objects. I spent the rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. The look was similar to it... This is where my passion for restoring furniture began. Once our home was furnished, I still couldn't stop! In the market in town I was able to rent a tiny space and sold some pieces. Then, I ran out of lots of pieces to keep in the space available. Open houses were held at my residence where 1 000 visitors would pass through over a weekend, and the visitors were able to purchase items on the first floor. Growing Days was founded in my home. While my company grew, so did our little family. There was a perfect balance between the start of a company as well as being a mom. Growing Days seemed like the ideal combination. Nora joined us in 2013 to be our fourth baby. The direction my company was heading was fantastic, but I needed to get some down time. I made the decision to take some break from my antique furniture and slow down to stay at home with the kids. This was just the thing I needed. The phone rang again after some time. People contacted me asking to help them with decorating their homes and interiors. A majority of those calling me were people who had attended one of my furniture open house events. I started taking on some customers one by one going at my own pace however it wasn't long before I had several accounts, and I was operating a complete home renovation business. If you had told me that this business of mine could become an idea for a TV show for the DIY Network I probably would have laughed. As I reflect back, it still makes me giggle.
