Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on 17 April 1972. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local school. Desiring to follow the footsteps of her father, she graduated with an engineering degree in chemical technology. But because she wanted to fulfill her ambition of becoming an actor, she relocated to New York to try her luck in the movies. When she was not appearing in Broadway shows, she worked as waitress. Her first husband Scott Foley met her on the television show "Felicity," where she was a guest. Garner made her debut in Alias, an action thriller. Her first major performance was in the highly praised romance 13 Going on 30. She played a young woman trapped within a 30years old body. Garner selected Gary Winick, who directed the movie. She and Winick continued to work together in search of other projects following his passing. Garner began his role as an ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. This role entails promoting nutritional literacy, education and early education. Garner is a board member on the organization's board since 2014, is an advocate for early education.
